Where did the Battles of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift take place?
The isolated hill of Isandlwana stands just south east of Rorke’s Drift, approximately 169 kilometres northwest of Durban. The landmark is unforgettable because of the white boulders that mark the graves from the battles, fought on 22 January 1879. It is also mentioned that Isandlwana means abomasum, which is the second stomach of the cow – the shape of the land reminds them of that.
